Little Rock is brimming with things to do:

The city has three historical neighborhoods: Downtown Little Rock, Hillcrest-Midtowne, and The Heights. All three neighborhoods have wonderful privately owned restaurants, small boutique shops, plus exceptional centers with well-know names like Pottery Barn, William-Sonoma, and Banana Republic. These neighborhoods have antique shops, parks, theater, music, and beautifully restored structures dating back to pre-Civil War through the 1940’s and the new “modern” bungalows. And, you don’t want to miss the Big Dam Bridge…the longest pedestrian and cycling bridge in the world.

Little Rock is centrally located for such wonderful day trips as Moss Mountain Farm…the P. Allen Smith retreat & tour house. Scott is the home of the Hubcap Hamburger and Morris Antiques. Hot Springs baths and Bath House Row; and, Pinnacle Mountain for outdoor lovers is on the outskirts of Little Rock.


Historic Little Rock

The South Main Street Historic District
 www.arkansaspreservation.com The South Main Street historic district, not far from where you are staying, offers both dining and nightlife opportunities. A few blocks over is the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, one of the finest theatre companies in the country, where you can see live productions in season. The north end of Main Street is where the River Market District is located and something is always going on.

The Arkansas Museum of Discovery

Down Markham a few blocks is the Old State House Museum, a stunning Greek Revival structure that is the oldest existing capitol building west of the Mississippi. A couple of blocks from there is the Historic Arkansas Museum which includes the oldest structures still standing in Little Rock.

In addition to the performing arts, there is ample opportunity to enjoy the visual arts. The largest of these is the Arkansas Arts Center, located in MacArthur Park in the same-named historic area. The acclaimed center has a world-renowned collection of works on paper along with other art pieces. National touring exhibits, theatre classes and productions plus an “artsy” gift shop and excellent restaurant are also found here. Don’t miss the Old Arsenal next door where General Douglas MacArthur was born. It now houses the Museum of Arkansas Military History.

The Big Dam Bridge
www.thebigdambridge100.com The Big Dam Bridge is far more unique than the name would suggest. It stands 72 feet above the Arkansas River and is a popular spot for bicyclists. Joggers appreciate the lighted walkway and photographers will enjoy the spectacular view from the bridge.

Moss Mountain Farm

Downtown River Market District
